The All Progressives Congress secured 308,418 votes (84.4%) across the state's 16 LGAs, with the Peoples Democratic Party a distant second on 39,077 votes. The result was declared on Saturday, 21 June 2026.
The commission confirmed the timetable for the off-cycle governorship poll: campaigns close 48 hours before election day, with accreditation and voting opening 8:30 a.m. across all 30 LGAs.
The commission has extended the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration by two weeks — from 10 to 24 July 2026 — and launched an online self-service portal so eligible Nigerians can complete registration without visiting an office.

2,390 of 2,445 EC8A result sheets are now viewable polling unit by polling unit — drill from state to LGA, ward and unit level and compare uploads against announced figures.
Accredited observers reported BVAS malfunctions at about 13% of sampled units and cash-for-votes activity near some polling units, while praising early deployment and overall calm.

The commission says funding for the 2027 general elections has been secured early, covering procurement of election technology, logistics and the expansion of polling units nationwide.
Nigerians will elect the President, 109 Senators and 360 House of Representatives members on 16 January 2027, with Governorship and State House of Assembly elections following on 6 February 2027.
